HVAC CAD Tech

Job Description:

HVAC CAD Tech with experience and knowledge of AutoCAD. The candidate will work under the direction of CAD Designers and Engineers. Preferably, the candidate should have experience in a similar role working for a Design Build Contractor, MEP Consulting Engineering Firm, or an Architectural Firm. Therma is a leading design-build mechanical construction contractor with a long history of completing technically challenging projects serving a wide variety of clients.

Job Responsibilities:

· Create construction drawing packages using AutoCAD.

· Create building 2D floor plans, elevations, sections and details of mechanical systems.

· Create demolition drawings.

· Create diagrams of mechanical systems.

· Create equipment schedules, and project title sheets.

· Create Issued for Permit and Issued for Construction drawing packages.

· Create Isometric drawings.

· Create “As-Built” drawings from “Red Line” mark-ed up drawings.

· Plot drawings and make copies as needed.

· Attend weekly work planning meetings.

· Work closely with other CAD Techs, CAD Designers and Engineers.

· Do on-site verification when necessary.

· Adhere to department CAD standards.

· Use department electronic filing system for maintaining project data.

· Assist with setting up projects and importing architectural backgrounds.

· Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Requirements:

· 2+ Years work experience as a CAD Technician.

· A positive attitude and good communication skills.

· Basic knowledge of MEP CAD drafting standards including symbols.

· Experience working as a CAD Technician for a design-build contractor, engineering firm or architectural firm.

· AutoCAD 2005 experience. Knowledge of AutoCAD MEP is a plus.

· 3D CAD experience is not necessary but is considered a plus.

· High School Diploma. AA degree or a certificate from an accredited technical school or vocational school would be considered a plus.

· Candidate must be able to multitask and meet project deadlines.

· Experience producing HVAC, Process Piping and or Plumbing drawings in CAD.

· Must be a self starter who can follow directions and is a team player while at the same time is able to work with minimum supervision.

METROTECH Corporation, an industry leader in the design and manufacture of underground pipe and cable locators is seeking a “CAD Drafter/Document Control Specialist”.

This position plays a vital role in the continued success of Metrotech’s high quality standards for new product designs as well as improvements on products currently in production. This position also assists with developing technical/mechanical drawings for sub-assemblies, fabrications, procedures and decals while working closely with various departments.

The individual needs to be goal oriented and multitask in order to complete assigned projects on time. They need to aggressively take ownership of the position and continuously seek improvements in the Document Control department.

This person will work closely with our ISO Manager in ensuring that our internal ISO policies/procedures are followed and kept current.

The approximately breakdown of work is 80% drafting, 20% Doc Control responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

1. Assist Development Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Marketing departments by creating/modifying engineering drawings, marketing materials, product labels, electrical schematics.
2. Manage the flow of documentation into and out of the document control database.
3. Assist Manufacturing Engineering with the timely completion of Engineering Change Orders (ECO’s) - this can involved procedure updates, drawing updates, database entry, supervising the sign-off process.
4. Oversee the released documentation on the production floor, ensuring latest revisions only are available to the production personnel.
5. Feedback problems with drawings/layouts based on commonly held drafting practices/standards.

Foothill-De Anza College’s Scholarships for Veterans is a not for profit, non-partisan, non-political organization dedicated to making scholarships available to recent veterans.   

SFV hopes to motivate individuals and businesses to assist in providing scholarships for returning veterans. Money donated goes directly into the designated college’s scholarship fund and is collected and awarded by the college foundation.  SFV provides funding for a 2-year AS, or AA degree, which covers tuition and fees (or applied to expenses) for 90-quater or 60-semester units up to 2000.00.

Scholarships are available to any qualified recent veteran of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or Coast Guard. Scholarships are administered by the local college foundations. No administration fees are taken by Scholarships for Veterans.  Committee members of Scholarships for Veterans make final selections.
