We are looking for a skilled Mechanical CAD drafter for the design of custom Air Handling Units. The candidate will be responsible for the CAD drafting support for Design Engineers and customers. Candidate must have some knowledge of HVAC or interest in learning.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Develop 2-D submittal drawings using AutoCAD for preliminary process
  2. Keep record of design drawings and revisions
  3. Preparation of detail drawings from 3-D models
  4. Work closely with engineers and customers to understand, execute design and document requirement and objectives in order to procure preliminary drawings
  5. Ability to verify drafting and design work of self and others
  6. Interpretation of engineering drawings, equipment schedules and specifications
  7. Education/ Experience/ Skills

    1. High School Diploma or equivalent
    2. Associate degree in drafting or certificate
    3. Proficiency and experience with Pro/E is a must
    4. Proficiency with AutoCAD
    5. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and outlook
    6. Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerance
    7. Proficiency with MS Office and Adobe software
    8. Spanish is plus
    9. Self - motivated
    10. Ability to work efficiently and productively without closely supervision

      Job Summary:
      Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
      Responsible for creating and modifying detailed drawings using CAD hardware and software from verbal inputs, sketches, layouts, or notes provided by engineering. Contributes design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Checks drawing plots versus the project input for correctness and conformance to standards. Works with engineers regarding model accuracy, design, drafting standards, and ECO/ECR documentation. May be involved in systems management including file maintenance, backup, and storage.
      Supervisory Responsibilities: None
      Qualifications/Competencies:

      • Experienced at establishing input/output requirements for product development.
      • Experienced in providing manufacturing quality documentation.
      • Knowledge of ASME Y14.50M (dimensioning and tolerancing) practices.
      • Experienced with a PLM tool, such as Omnify or Agile.
      • Working Knowledge of complete Mechanical development and editing, Library Management and Design Output.
      • Skilled at coordinating Mechanical Assembly Documentation and Detail Drawings.
      • Skilled at coordinating test fixture documentation.
      • Ability to communicate product knowledge between sales/customer and assemblers.
      • Experienced at performing mechanical (and some electrical) design, drafting and documentation.
      • Experienced at working closely with Engineering to understand and execute design/documentation requirements and objectives.
      • Experienced with employing sound design and drafting practices using SolidWorks/PDMWorks and AutoCAD software.
      • Ability to verify drafting and design work of self and others.
      • Experienced at preparing Bills of Materials.
      • Ability to provide technical support to other departments.
      • Capable of performing other duties and responsibilities when required.
      • Experienced with Microsoft Office and Adobe software.

      Education and/or Experience:
      High school diploma or equivalent, and Associates degree in drafting/design or a Certificate. Minimum of four years design and drafting experience, including two years experience with design concepts and elements. Three years of experience with SolidWorks/PDMWorks and Autocad software packages.
      Physical Demands:
      While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, and talk or hear. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds or more.
